I often enjoy Topshop, at least in theory, but I call bullshit on these shorts, which have all the trappings of Mom Shorts, which are the dysfunctional stepdaughter of Mom Jeans. High waist? Icky '90s light wash? BUSTED.

My New Aoyama Itchome Dress!
It's Wedding S/S '08 season -- I have at least four between next weekend and October. I say "at least" because you never know who's gonna pull the trigger at the last minute, be it a shotgun wedding (helllloooooo Ashlee Simpson!) or one of those "fuck-it-let's-do-it-now" joints. So, of course, I needed a new dress to wear on this season's circuit.
Target: Atlantic Avenue and points south.
Budget: Under $200. Preferably well under that, but sometimes it ends up being worth it to spend more money and less time/ sanity. Although, ONE dress for $200 around Atlantic Ave. is no easy feat...
BUT...
I'd stopped into Aoyama Itchome a few weeks after it opened on Atlantic Avenue. Aoyama Itchome, by the way, is named for named for Japanese designer Hogo Natsuwa, who resides in Paris, and started Aoyama Itchome in 2001.
Honestly, I liked a lot of the dresses, but I wasn't into all of the pretty-peasant-style flowy dresses, painted silks and and other frocks in a variety of worry-doll wovens.
But I stopped by again today, and I walked out with this pretty, forgiving, flattering, and 'fordable frock:
($155, Aoyama Itchome)
($104, Pura Lopez, Amazon)

Purdy, right? And in case you're interested, you can't shop the store online, but you can stop by: at 296 Atlantic Ave.
Now... shoes: I might get some pretty purple heels, or these, which I blogged about before:

($104, Pura Lopez, Amazon)Si? Are the studs too much? I kinda think they'ze just right.
+ More Aoyama Itchome pretties:
($108, Aoyama Itchome, Aqui-Nobhill.com)
($79, Aoyama Itchome, eBay)

($108, Aoyama Itchome, Aqui-Nobhill.com)Purdy. Would be even cuter with some tights and flats, and not Mom Jeans.
Love the bib front. Git it, girl!

Kelly Taylor Dresses Entire Family Like Mario Batalli, Idiots
The scourge of Crocs continues!!Can't Child Protective Services take your kids away from you for lesser infractions?
Oh yeah, and speaking of Jennie Garth, there's a new 90210 coming, by the way. No word on whether the female cast members will be contractually obligated to wear Mom jeans.
(Thanks to Chicago JP for sending me this one.)

Leggings By Lohan!
Look who's legging-ing! Per JustJared, Lindsay Lohan will be bringing her no-pants fashion sense to the willing-to-spend masses when she launches her own line of leggings. (Thanks to Chicago's Rustrick-On-That-Cool-Tip for the knowledge-based alert.)So, is this the ultimate nail in the coffin for leggings, or is this a sign that they're not going anywhere? Or a sign of the impending apocalypse? And will they be as blindingly horbs as these corrupt monstrosities? And are you almost starting to consider Mom Jeans at this point?
And coming soon: Lindsay-branded coke spoons!?

Not-So-Cheap Monday
I had no idea that Cheap Monday has so much non-jeans stuff! It seems like here in the U.S. and/or/Of A. we mainly just get jeans. Unfortunately, most of the awesome accessories and stuff are on Swedish site Caliroots (a misnomer if ever there was one), which is actually quite cheap due to the krona-to-USD exchange rate AND Cheap Monday's rad mission to keep their stuff, well, cheap... But... the freaking VAT and shipping is OFF. THE. CHARTS.
Some of the super-cute stuff I wanted:

($14, Cheap Monday, Caliroots.com)Awesome. Was gonna get one for my sister, who's obsessed with giant squids (this is an octopus, but who's counting?) and one for myself.
Seven bucks! What the hull?
I excitedly added two of scarf #1 and some cute $7 skull socks to my cart. The total came to $39 USD. But with $55 shipping (!!!!?!!??!?!?), VAT, and God knows what the fuck else -- tax on being awesome or something? -- the total came to $85 USD. Um, nah brah.
I'll stick with this cute Easter egg-colored scarf instead:
And here's some horrifying Cheap Monday stuff that, even though I've never worn nor owned, causes me to shudder with morning-after regret:
($28 USD, Cheap Monday, Caliroots.com)
