opposites attract

I have a split fashion personality. There. I said it. I have been trying to hide it for years in hope that it will change, but no such luck. My split fashion personality means that I don't have a certain look that defines me, a signature style like people such as Dita Von Teese, Kate Moss and Cory Kennedy possess. Let's say, one day I'll wear vintage denim shorts with a white AA t-shirt and a baggy hat, while the other I'll wear a cute, fitted dress with a cardigan and lovely heels. In other words, one day you can see me dressed like Victoria Beckham, the next a little like David Beckham (not that I really can compare myself with these two excellent style inspirators!) No matter how much I try to only choose one look and stick to it, it just simply doesn't work for me.

As this fall is approaching, I have been going through endless runway pictures from all the different collections. Everything from Proenza Schouler to Lanvin, from Burberry Prorsum to Zac Posen, from Matthew Williamson to Balenciaga (I could go on forever!) has impressed me. Still, the two who have impressed me the most are Alexander Wang and Versace. And here you can see that my split fashion personality kicks in yet again. Alexander Wang fronts the bad, rocker chic look with clear references back to the 90s done with a very modern twist, while none other than Versace knows how to wrap up the sophisticated look with the sexy seductive look to perfection.

I couldn't have chosen better opposites. My dilemma now is how to work these looks and combine them into one, instead of doing the sexy, elegant look one day while the other I work the slightly Courtney Love and Paula Yates look. I'm thinking a cocktail dress and ripped up stockings don't work too good together..or hmmm, maybe they do?
Do you suffer from the split fashion personality disorder too?
If so, between which looks and/or which designers?

July's Fashion Inspiration
LAUREN CONRAD

I know many of you will probably strongly disagree that I have chosen Lauren Conrad from The Hills as July's fashion inspiration. I think it's perfectly alright to say that she is one of those people you either love to hate, or hate to love. And I have to admit that I belong to the last. I love watching The Hills episodes and I am always so excited to see what Lauren (and not to mention Whitney) wears. And the photos from July shows that this month has been a good one for her.

Even though Lauren's style is very simple and not either that daring or unique, I believe that she gives great inspiration when it comes to everyday outfits. I like her femininity and the way she sometimes shows that simplicity can be the best and most flattering. I don't think that she will ever become a fashion icon, but she does the job when it comes to showing off some great and fun outfits.

June's Fashion Inspiration
CHARLIZE THERON

I have decided to start a new feature here on StyleSpot, where each month, I choose someone who's style has made a good impression during the month. This is just a fun way to celebrate some of the stylish people in the world!

As June's Fashion Inspiration, I have chosen Charlize Theron. In the past, I haven't found her to be very daring (though at times she has been seen in some excellent pieces), but in June she has really shone while promoting her new movie Hancock. Belonging to the elegant over 30 team, she has definitely had more fabulous hits than misses this month. In fact I don't think that I can recall any misses! Another reason to why I chose her, is that she reminds me so much of the Hollywood starlets like Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly and Greta Garbo, who's style was so chic and enchanting and who managed to dress their age, but still have that extra something-something. I hope I'll dress just like Charlize Theron when I am in my 30's (meaning I have to become rich and famous to afford her closet!)

This month, she has been seen in fierce shoes that many women drool over (well, I sure do!)...

...and she has been spotted many times at airports looking her usual stylish self...

...just see how fantastic she looks in a grey dress, simple black blazer and big sunglasses...

...it might have something to do with her oh-so-fabulous lean, long legs aswell...

In June, Charlize Theron has been wearing everything from white...

...to bold splashes of lucious colours like deep red and shiny orange...

..but still, it's her June LBD collection that has captured a lot of the attention around her style this month...

...Charlize is definitely a woman to take a lot of fashion inspiration from!
