NY Fashion Week Highlights: Thakoon, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Yigal Azrouel, Diane von Furstenberg, Tracy Reese

Hiya everybody! It's been a whirlwind week and I had the pleasure of attending the Fashion 2.0 Social Media Awards last night in SoHo. I met so many great fellow bloggers, fashion entrepreneurs, and the DKNY social media/PR gang which took home awards in almost every category including best Twitter account! Note to self: Check out DKNY's Twitter account...Back to the fashion at hand, here are some pieces I loved from collections that have flown down the runway at Fashion Week, and do note the fortuitous use of color for next Fall, especially blues and greens!

You're REALLY Gonna Need This Nautical Striped Blazer From LOFT

UPDATE: Check out LOFT's nautical striped blazer in all of its glory!

($98, Loft)

Last night I went to the LOFT Holiday 2010 presentation, and while I liked what they were doing with subtle updates to winter classics -- the preppy tweed skirt below with a black silk overlay -- I left with one piece on my YES PLEASE list. The nautical striped wool blazer above. Is it a Givenchy's Springl 2010 blue and white striped blazer? Who can say? But I love the idea of warm wool jacket in a theme usually associated with warmer months. (More cool Breton striped tops here at Dreamhaute.)

And check out that Karen Walker/ Coco Chanel-inspired Breton striped top with a cute floral overlay. Cute on its own or layered under a blazer or safari jacket. I'm into it!

Oh, and speaking of safari jacket, I've been meaning to pick up Loft's safari jacket for forevs. Laziness alone has been a barrier to my owning that jacket:
($79.50, LOFT)
Seriously though, put aside your Mom-jeans conception of LOFT, because they're really stepping their game up (if you're not getting a J.Crew-y vibe already.) And they LOVE a sale. I got an amazing pair of black pegleg harem pants that look like Vanessa Bruno/ Phillip Lim for like $19. They practically paid me to buy them. Point is: LOFT = LOVE

CFDA Award Winners Plus Red Carpet Photos

The Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards (CFDA's) took place on Monday night in New York City where designers, celebrities, models, and fashion muses milled about under one fashionably laid back roof to celebrate the talented winners: Marc Jacobs received the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone won Menswear Designer of the Year, and Alexis Bittar took home Accessory Designer of the Year. And finally, the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Michael Kors for 29 golden years in the fashion industry. And now for the Fashion!! A lot of neutrals, a LOT of black, and a sprinkling of patterns:
Marc Jacobs and Jessica Biel (whose Diane von Furstenberg dress is better suited....for some place else...)

Sarah Jessica Parker in Alexander McQueen

Michael Kors and Gwyneth Paltrow, looking gorgeous in the designer's custom gown

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, with model Sasha Pivovarova, looking cropped and frumpy in their label 'The Row'

Iman and David Bowie

Fracisco Costa of Calvin Klein with a gorgeous Lara Stone (shiny black is clearly a hit of the evening!)

Irina Lazareanu in 3.1 Phillip Lim

CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg (I'm not liking her dress) and Carolina Herrera (I am loving her favorite crisp uniform)

Jessica Biel in Diane von Furstenberg, with Jason Wu and Rachel Weisz looking beautiful in Wu's design

Pointless Over-The-Top Desires: 3.1 Phillip Lim Sequined Jacket

($1,500, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Net-a-porter.com)
I could do without the black ribbon sleeves, but who's counting. Check out that gorgeous metal work on the front. Now I've got something to wear if I ever make it out to the Liberace Museum.
