The 2008 SAG Awards; The Dresses

America Ferrera and Tina Fey showed up in one-strap pieces. Tina looks very elegant and chic in this Alberta Ferretti dress, but she would have received more brownie points if she had chosen something with a bit of colour, but hey, it's Tina Fey..she'll look classic and pretty in anything so the brownie points ain't going low anyway ! America is quite the stunner in this dress by Monique Lhuiller and the colour of it makes her stand out in the crowd because it is so unique. It's something other than black (take notes Tina!) and the material is absolutely gorgeous.

A few were seen in short strapless dresses. For instance, we have the absolutely magnifique Michelle Pfeiffer in Versace, and the very stunning Rebecca Romijn looking glamorous and artistique. And then there is Sophia Bush, who, if I may say so, looked a tad boring. Still, it's cute, shoes are cute, Sophia is cute..whole lotta cuteness going on so nothing to be too worried about folks !

Then there were the floorgrazing versions of the strapless dress. First off, Angelina Jolie appeared in what I may refer to as something very similar to a potato sack. Okay, I am going to rise above the pregnancy rumours and I am not going to question why she is wearing that "thing", also known as a vintage Hermès. Those two couldn't possibly be linked together. Yeah right...but who knows..maybe they just want to joke around with the media? One of my favourite gowns was worn by Marion Cotillard. She wore a gorgeous piece by Nina Ricci with amazing grace. And Amanda Bynes looked adorable. I'd love to have that dress, designed by Marchesa, in my closet. Well, a girl can dream. Her hair was all hippie-like which I love..oh please pretty please let there be more celebrities in hippie/boho inspired dresses! (a little pause) Yay, my prayers were answered! This will do very nicely thank you very much indeed Kate Hudson. Always the flower-power-girl Hudson didn't disappoint me this time either in this creation by Balmain.

Ooo-errr, the glitz and the glam. Of course we need a little of that too ! Just take a look at Debra Messing. There is someone who took notes during fashion lessons. The dress is by none other than Oscar De La Renta, and it is S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G!! But you can't really expect anything less from De La Renta, can you?! Ellen Pompeo, in a dress by Nina Ricci, looks like she is wrapped in tin-foil. Don't get me wrong, it's not completely hideous..but you know you can do so much better Ellen ! Becki Newton looks like a Greek goddess in her Elsie Katz Couture dress, and Eva Longoria brought "Va-va-voom!" to the SAG Awards in her Naeem Khan creation. Both look incredible! Christina Applegate, however, doesn't manage to give her Elie Saab dress the attention it deserves, but still she manages to give off that vintage, glamour feel which I love.

Bold and bright colours were hot at the awards. Kyra Sedgwick got a lot of well-deserved attention with her gorgeous L'wren Scott creation, and Vanessa Williams looked very zesty and edgy outfit from Escada. May I just say she looks her absolute best here ! Marcia Cross always manages to look the part, and she did not disappoint in her Monique Lhuiller gown. I love love love Kate Beckinsale's dress from Luisa Beccaria. She looks so adorable, but when doesn't she?! January Jones doesn't look too great in her pink fabric, but hey whatever floats your boat right? And I can't make up my mind about Rebecca Gayheart...the colour screams hot, but the design..well, err, not.
Which dress is your favourite?
And, if you were to go to the SAG Awards, which look would you have chosen? The one-strap, strapless (short or long), glitz and glamour or bold and bright?
